You have been looking for a new, addictive, simple, accelerometer-driven Android app, right? I think you may have found it. Froggy Jump for Android from Invictus will please Android app gamers of all ages with its hands-off game play design and introductory options.
Gameplay
Tilt your Android to the left and right to aim Froggy as he jumps from ledge to ledge. The higher you climb, the more points you earn. Sounds pretty simple, right? Throw in increasingly difficult jumps, a dozen different types of ledges, alien frogs to battle, a whole catalog of special gear, and more boosts than you can shake a frog leg at, and you’ve got an interesting, challenging game. And that’s just the first level. The points you gain can be used to unlock different background and game themes. Collect gems to buy gear to help you jump higher than before.
Froggy Jump
Froggy Jump interfaces with OpenFeint, where you can save your score. Players of the first wave of the Froggy Jump app for Android who login through OpenFeint in the application can name planets. Future releases will have plants named for the players who got their first. Get in on the ground level of Froggy Jump and be immortalized in Android app history.
Despite all the excitement, I found Froggy Jump a little monotonous. If you experience an untimely death, you will find yourself on ground level. As a new player, I found myself jumping through the boring easy stage more times than I care to remember.
Graphics
Our green hero is impeccably rendered, and reacts in extremely amusing ways to bouncing off of ledges, but after a few minutes of game play I was riddled with eye fatigue. The background is cute and distracting, and future expansions will most likely include additional background themes. I did not experience any of the invisible froggy issues some users have reported, however several times while I was opening the application the first graphic only loaded half way.
Game menu functions are kept small and out of the way. It took me a moment to find the pause button, and even longer to realize the boxes at the ground-level game beginning were more than annoying things to hit Froggy’s head on. The boxes lead to your Froggy Jump shop, OpenFeint and to Froggy Jump app news.
Value
Froggy Jump for Android is free. Unless you want to spend hours collecting gems and coins in the game, you will spend money purchasing credits to outfit your froggy properly. Still, you do not have to spend money to enjoy this charming little game. Go ahead; find out what your accelerometer is really made of.
