Even though board games are a bit more traditional and “old school”, they’re still pretty fun to play. This is especially true when you’re facing off against friends or competing against other players online.
Dice Games is a fun combination of four different games you’re sure to love playing. Featuring multiplayer options and local gameplay, this simple board game is a great pick-up-and-play game.
Concept and Gameplay
Dice Games, a free Android game by Vadym Khokhlov, is a simple game without flashy graphics or animations. Relying on skill and luck, this app features four individual games: “Thousand”, “General”, “Dice Dodge” and “Pig”.
If you’re unfamiliar with the rules of these games, simply tap on the question mark button located in the main menu for a useful overview of how to play.
The main menu of Dice Games can be a little challenging to navigate without descriptions of what each button does. The options change based on which game you choose to play. The person icon is for local multiplayer, the android icon is for AI, the icon with two people is online multiplayer, and the globe (only in “General” mode) is for daily tournaments.
As far as gameplay, Dice Games seems to be very straightforward. Each game mode is well designed and features a clean board layout that’s easy to read. I do wish there was an option for an interactive tutorial to help new players like myself, but if you already know the rules of each game you shouldn’t have any trouble at all with playing.
Features
As I mentioned above, Dice Games allows you to play against someone locally on the same device, against a skilled AI bot, or online with other players.
Having a variety of four different games to play sets Dice Games apart from other apps, mainly because there’s a good chance you’ve never played them and it’s an opportunity to learn something new.
If you’re competitive and you really like a challenge, there are daily tournaments to participate in with other online players. This is a great way to hone your skills while climbing the ranks.
Value
Dice Games is available to download for free from Google Play. The game is supported by ads, but they’re not terribly intrusive.
For someone like me who isn’t familiar with the basic rules of each game, Dice Games is a bit challenging to understand.
However, those of you who already know how to play will dive right in and enjoy it right out of the gate.
